3.0 out of 5 stars Smaller Than You Think, December 16, 2009

Disclaimer: I did not buy this unit. I did however find a chain store that had this same item as a showroom display so I went to look at it and get measurements. In searching for a TV stand, that is one thing I can't understand, why doesn't everyone put shelf and opening measurements on each listing? So here you go, I measured these quickly with a tape measure in the store, so they may be off slightly, if your items will be a close fit with these measurements, then I would not suggest buying it. (if not for fitting, then for fear of overheating electronics)

Top of unit where your TV would sit = 18.25" deep.
Note: There is a "lip" that is about 1 inch wide and 0.5" high that goes across the front of the unit. I suppose it would be useful to stop marbles from rolling off if the unit is not level?? At any rate, it doesn't really subtract from the look, imo, but it doesn't add anything either.

Depth of shelves = 15 inches. (shelving and cabinets are... Read more

Most 50" TV stands are in the $300+ range, so I was a bit skeptical about this unit. Purchased it from a local store, where I figured I could easily return it if unsatisfied. However, the stand has been great. Took an hour or two to assemble alone. Not the highest quality wood, but definitely good enough to get the job done.
My only complaints: 1)the finish has some off-white striations running along it. Can't notice it from a few feet away, but up close they're visible; and 2) the top compartments may be a bit small for gaming consoles - they'll fit just fine, but I don't think they provide enough air circulation.
Also, the stand isn't exactly "black." It's definitely dark, but it's probably closer to a cappuccino finish.
Overall, though, an excellent deal.

1.0 out of 5 stars H0RRIBLE !, April 10, 2012
This review is from: Ameriwood 50-inch Flat Panel TV Stand, Black (Kitchen)
I went to my local Big Lots store and noticed that it was $50 difference than the listed price on here. Just as anyone would do, I purchased it locally and took it home, very excited to assemble it that evening.

First, let me say that I'm GREATFUL that I didn't end up spending the extra $50 on this hunk of junk. It does not look anything like the picture, very grainy in person and it's a LOT smaller than 50 inches I do believe, although I have not measured it.

Second, you can follow the instructions till the cows come home, no use. The doors wouldn't fit, pieces that were supposed to go together weren't going together because the instructions are written so poorly. Ended up having to use wood glue, no help.

I've had it for about 4 months, it's caving and sinking in the middle. Not to mention, the support beam on the front is almost completely detached now. I mean, $130, I thought that was a decent amount to pay ... lesson learned. Spend the extra $50... Read more
